Ingredients

Cake:
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup milk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon orange extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9 inch baking dish. Combine cake ingredients, stir well. Spread batter into prepared pan and set aside.

Topping:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon orange extract
1/4 cup honey

Instructions

Cake:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9 inch square baking dish. Combine cake ingredients, stir well. Spread batter into prepared pan and set aside.

Topping:

In a heavy 2 quart saucepan, combine topping ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a full boil. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes. Pour topping evenly over coffee cake batter. Bake for 22-27 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
